Navratri 2025 Day 6, devotees focus on Goddess Katyayani, a symbol of strength, protection, and the ability to remove obstacles. This Day is about courage, purpose, and inner balance. This Day asks us to awaken that warrior spirit inside of us while staying calm at the same time.

Goddess Katyayani is one of the fierce forms of Durga. She is worshipped for victory over negativity, being harmonious, and in many traditions, she is invoked for blessings in marriage or relationships.

What Is the Story of Navratri Day 6

Legend holds that to please Goddess Parvati into incarnating to defeat evil, Sage Katyayan meditated intensely. Out of devotion, she appeared in the form of Goddess Katyayani.

As Katyayani, she is known for defeating strong demons, brining balance to the universe. Her lion mount, her weaponry, and her fearless nature all portray the fierce side of the goddess and protect her followers from negative forces.

Colour of the Day and Its Meaning

Grey is the color for Day 6.

Grey is associated with emotional equilibrium, neutrality, and level-headedness. It is not overly bold, and it is not overly muted. It is calming and can help create balance in one’s energy, inner wisdom, and the ability to remain centered under pressure.

Ritual and Worship Practice

  • Start your day with a sacred bath in the morning.
  • Purify and adorn the idol of Goddess Katyayani, placing sindoor on her forehead and dressing her with fresh flowers.
  • After lighting a lamp (diya) and incense, invoke the goddess with sincere prayers and focused concentration.
  • Repeat the Katyayani mantra such as “Om Devi Katyayanyai Namah”, usually 108 times.
  • Offer bhog to your Goddess (in the next section).
  • Finish the process with an evening aarti, followed by distributing prasad to the devotees.

What to Offer (Bhoga) for Navratri Day 6

One bhog that is popularly done for Goddess Katyayani on Day 6 is honey, whether it is offered on its own, or in the form of sweets.

Other bhogs can include seasonal fruits, light sweets, or a sattvic (pure vegetarian offerings) to recognize harmony and purity.
