Navratri 2025 Day 5 – Color, Story, Bhog, Clothing

The fifth day of Navratri is reserved for the worship of Goddess Skandmata, celebrated on the 26th of September, 2025. All about Navratri 2025 day 5.

On this day, devotees experience, in a special way, the Divine Mother’s nurturing and loving stature. The worship is filled with the Divine Mother’s love and protection, particularly for families and children.

Skandamata is considered the mother of Lord Kartikeya (Skanda). She represents both strength and tenderness. Her presence encourages us to pursue balance in-life, compassion in our hearts, and growth on our inner journey.

What Is the Story of Navratri Day 5

Goddess Parvati is referred to as Skandmata after giving birth to Skanda (Kartikeya), who became the divine commander and war-god.

There is a story that a demon, Tarkasura, who was blessed by a boon was convinced that there would never be any thwarting his reign of terror. So, to decree the demise of Tarkasura, the Divine Mother and Lord Shiva gave birth to Kartikeya.

Through Skandmata’s blessings, Kartikeya was born, matured, and triumphed over evil in restoring balance. Skandmata is revered as the loving mother of a fierce warrior that encompasses both love and power.

Colour of the Day and Its Meaning
