Fasting Guidelines and Parana Time

There are some rules regarding fasting on Ekadashi:

  • Fasting: Devotees do not eat grains, beans, and certain vegetables. Some devotees will fast completely, while others will eat fruits and drink milk.
  • Parana (Breaking the Fast): The fast is broken the next day during Parana time. Parana timings are based on sunrise and lunar calculations.

For example:

  • Apara Ekadashi: May 23, 2025; Parana time: May 25, 2025,:- 05:19 AM – 09:54 AM
  • Pandava Nirjala Ekadashi: June 7, 2025; Parana time: June 8, 2025 05:16 AM – 07:17 AM

It is good to check with your local Vaishnava calendar or ISKCON temple to see the correct Parana timing so the fast can be broken within the allowable time frame.
